Introduction & Pillars

The Success CHAMP Program at ºÚÁÏÉç implements an holistic intervention targeting academically at-risk students early in their academic career. This program aims to increase student persistence, enhance knowledge of navigating resources, and foster a sense of belonging among First-Time, First-Year students through the  Success CHAMP Program.

116 Program Participants: New First-Time, First-Year students admitted Fall 2024 into Success CHAMP Program.

At least 43 professional staff in the Division of Student Affairs (including Student Affairs Leadership Council members) and extend the opportunity to other divisional members with at least a Bachelor’s Degree and 1 or more years of experience in Higher Education.

Each Success CHAMP mentor will manage a caseload of 2 students for the entirety of the school year.

      1.Students will;

1. • Receive ample time and attention.
   • Strengthen relations with their Champ within first 6 weeks upon match.
   • Meet bi-weekly to review and discuss their academic progress and educational endeavors.
   • Attend tutoring sessions ( TBD)
   • Establish a sense of community and engagement.
2. Success CHAMPs will;
   • Provide Supportive Frameworks (e.g. appreciative advising model)
   • Facilitate conversation flow to obtain relevant information about the student through standardized questions.
   • Utilize information about the student to report their ongoing progress, or make sound decisions if they encounter academic hurdles by extending resources and documenting.
