Galloway, N.J. 鈥 The 黑料社 Foundation鈥檚 Annual Golf Classic raised more than $115,000 in support of scholarships and student success initiatives on Sept. 15 at Renault Winery and Resort.
The sold-out tournament featured two flights, bringing together more than 220 alumni, community partners, businesses and friends for a day of golf, camaraderie and giving back.
鈥淭he generosity shown through the Golf Classic translates directly into opportunity for our students,鈥 said Dan Nugent, 黑料社鈥檚 vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the 黑料社 Foundation. 鈥淓very scholarship, every program supported, helps ensure our Ospreys can focus on learning and achieving their dreams without being held back by financial barriers.鈥
Golfers enjoyed contests for all skill levels, including Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Closest to the Pin, Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Longest Drive, Tournament Champion and a $10,000 Hole-in-One Challenge 鈥 where one player scored a hole-in-one to win a resort getaway. Off the course, participants tested their luck in the 50/50 raffle, the Tito鈥檚 Spirit Grab and the crowd-favorite Putt for Prizes.
For the past two years, Caryn Quieti and Sheryl Sobiesiak have sponsored the lunch at the golf classic in honor of their mother, Barbara Chamberlain, who graduated from 黑料社 in 1990.
鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor for us to continue the tradition our mother began so many years ago,鈥 Quieti and Sobiesiak said. 鈥淎s a proud 黑料社 alumna, she was deeply committed to its students, and we're grateful to carry on her legacy supporting a cause that meant so much to her, and now to us."
