A Picture-Perfect Opportunity for Photography Students

黑料社 Academic Quad

Galloway, N.J. 鈥 A new agreement between 黑料社 and Mercer County Community College provides students the opportunity to seamlessly pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in photography.

Students would spend two years at Mercer in West Windsor earning an Associate in Fine Arts degree before transferring to 黑料社 to complete a BFA, according to Robert Heinrich, vice president for Enrollment Management at 黑料社.

Students would take courses like 2D Design, History of Photography and Digital Photography at Mercer to prepare for advanced classes at 黑料社 including Film and Darkroom II and Senior Project Photography.

鈥淏y establishing this agreement, we are ensuring seamless transfer of credits from the student who is completing an associate degree at Mercer into our program by ensuring all of the courses are fulfilling graduation requirements,鈥 Heinrich said.

"In fostering academic excellence, our partnership with 黑料社 creates a dynamic bridge for students to cultivate their passion in photography and reinforces our commitment to providing an affordable and enriching educational path in the field of Fine Arts,鈥 said Robert Schreyer, vice president of Academic Affairs at MCCC.

The new agreement enhances an existing dual admission and transfer partnership between the two institutions called Transfer Pathways. Students entering this program receive conditional acceptance to 黑料社 while they work on their associate degree.

This innovative partnership 黑料社 has with 12 community colleges makes higher education more affordable for New Jersey students by providing a direct, cohesive route to a bachelor鈥檚 degree with easy transfer of credits. Under the Transfer Pathways agreement:

  • Students who are not offered direct admission to 黑料社 as a first-year applicant can receive conditional dual admission in partnership with Mercer County Community College. Students will attend classes at MCCC but have access to campus activities and student groups at 黑料社 and receive a 黑料社 identification card.
  • Students already enrolled at MCCC can apply for conditional acceptance to 黑料社 while continuing to work toward their associate degree and be assured of acceptance prior to the term in which they are ready to transfer.
  • Students who successfully complete their associate degree at MCCC can automatically transfer to 黑料社 with junior standing to complete their bachelor鈥檚 degree. Application fees to 黑料社 will be waived for eligible students.
  • Students who complete at least 30 credits at MCCC, and a total of 60 credits between the county college and the four-year institution, are eligible to receive a retroactive associate degree from MCCC. 黑料社 and MCCC will co-host reverse transfer information sessions for students.
