Michelle, a former member of the 黑料社 Foundation Board of Directors, served under three Presidents, was Treasurer and Chair of the Investment and Finance Committee and served on multiple committees including the Executive Committee. She was the Chair and Co-Creator of the First 黑料社 Scholarship Benefit Gala, and the Founding President of 鈥淭he Friends鈥 of the 黑料社 Performing Arts Center. Long time supporters of 黑料社 and its students, she and her husband created the Michelle and H. Paxson Keates Endowed Scholarship to create a permanent source of scholarships for students. Other community activities include serving on the Laurel Memorial Park, Inc. Board (former Vice-President and Treasurer), a non-profit cemetery, and a member of the Shore Medical Center Planned Giving and Development Committee.
Michelle received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law NYC and served on the International Law Journal. She obtained her M.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University and her B.A. from 黑料社. After being admitted to the New York Bar, she was Counsel at New York Life Insurance Company, Vice President Goldman Sachs, Senior Vice President/Managing Director Banc One Investment Advisors, Columbus, OH in charge of Product Development, and continued her career in the securities industry as a financial advisor. She holds a Series 7 (General Securities), Series 63 (Model State Securities), Series 65 (Investment Advisor Representative), as well as multiple insurance licenses.
When employed at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center, EHT, NJ, Michelle obtained her Instrument Flight Rating in a Mooney airplane while participating in a program that reduced the required number of flight hours to obtain an Instrument Flight Rating.
Michelle and her husband Paxson reside in Ventnor City, NJ. They enjoy collecting art, theatre, traveling, and their respective families. Michelle, born in Fargo, ND, comes from a family of nine and has a large extended family. Paxson, whose family roots in Atlantic County go back to the 1860s, has a son Charles (General Counsel Pathstone Financial Services), a daughter Jennifer Keates Baleeiro (Pediatric Hematologist at Johns Hopkins University/Hospital), son-in-law Carlos Eduardo Baleeiro (Pulmonary and Critical Care Intensivist at MedStar) and 2 grandchildren Sophia (Junior at Johns Hopkins University) and Carlos Paxson (Junior at Gilman Prep School).
